Dr. William H. Parker of http://www.fibroidsecondopinion.com/ removes 18 fibroids from the uterus of a 49 year old patient during this open surgery. The size of these uterine fibroids made the uterus the equivalent size of a 20-week pregnancy. Because the patient wished to preserve her uterus, the operation performed was myomectomy was performed instead of a hysterectomy. The surgery was performed successfully through a bikini incision. The video has been edited to 5 minutes and shows two fibroids being removed, suture closure of the uterine muscle and the use of Seprafilm adhesion barriers. NOTE: This video is very graphic.

  • No women's should be told she has to have a hysterectomy for fibroids. Thank you for education people on this matter!

  • I only have one large fibroid and was encouraged to have a hysterectomy as if "you don't need a uterus because you don't want more kids" If a man had a mass on his testicle they wouldn't cut off both nuts! I would like to keep my uterus! And, I am scheduled for myomectomy in 6 days!

  • I am getting this done in about one month from now. I am 27 no children and two intramural fibroids one small and one 8cm left posterior wall of uterus down going toward the cervix. I have never had any surgery before and Im terrified!!! I was wondering if anyone knew if fibroids had any effect on pms the emotional part of pms? My periods are not extremely heavy or painful and in fact they are regular. The mood swings are just exhausting!!
