Flood waters that swamped parts of Wallaceburg Feb. 12 put municipal officials on alert, as they declared a state of emergency.

Chatham-Kents emergency task force gathered at the Civic Centre as plans to deal with the water situation were hammered out.

While the waters of the Sydenham River, which flooded many roads including Wallace Street and Margaret Avenue, started to recede by mid-afternoon, the state of emergency remained in place.
