In a natural or man-made disaster, you could be told to leave your home on very short notice -- and that includes your pets. You should plan in advance for what to take along when you leave, what steps to take when an evacuation order is made and what do to when you return home. Good planning even includes preparation for disasters that occur when you are away from home. Watch this great video and learn more about including your pets in your disaster preparedness.
@TEDSroks You can get blocks of food that hang in fish tanks to give them a month (?) supply of food on slow release. Other then that its lifting tanks up to a good height in case of flooding. Im not sure what you could do with fire.
For electricity outages, wrap the tank in polystrene sheets (let some air through) and that will keep tropical fish water temperatures stable for a while.
Most tropical fish stores use huge dustbins with lids to move fish, or plastic bags.

Im glad someone has the common sense to include pets, it would have stopped a lot of unneccessary suffering in Japan.
Great Video thanks for posting.
