A book trailer for the memoir Growing Up In Mama's Club by Richard E. Kelly. It is a coming of age memoir of a young man who's world was turned upside down when his mother joined the Jehovah's Witnesses.
This can happen to anyone whose primary doctrine is "sola scriptura". Jesus Christ didn't say diddly about leaving any Bible. He left a Church and said He would send a Paraclete who would teach them all things. So if you hitch your wagon to the Bible and not the Church, you've pretty much attempted to lift yourself by your own bootstraps - because the Bible's no smarter, no less selfish, and just as foolish as you.
Good video, I was involved with this cult for 8 months. I know I learnt a lot about the JW after I left them due to refusing blood worries and my brain complications if occured after surgery. When I did this other than get angry at them all, I really have studied them. It is a false religion.
The video is great and the book is even better. I couldn't put it down. One of the reasons I began to doubt the Watchtower is because of the way they treat the children. They have stolen childhood from the children and expect them to perform as miniature adults. It's very sad.
Sounds like an amazing book. It reflects so many of us in our later life having to come to terms with decisions made for us by our mothers when they joined Jehovah's Witnesses religion.
