Solar's Last Chance Rally
11:30am Wednesday 18 May
Barnet Long Room: Customs House
31 Alfred Street
Circular Quay, Sydney

On Wednesday 18 May the Australian Solar Energy Society (AuSES) is calling on media, business, consumers, installers, families and people interested in a sustainable future for Australia to rally to save solar.

In this WebVNR interview, John Grimes Chief Executive of the Australian Solar Energy Society (AuSES) speaks about why NSW solar is in crisis, what needs to be done to reinstall fairness in the system and why the people of NSW are staging the 'Solar's Last Chance Rally'.

In the interview, John answers:
* What is the 'Solar's Last Chance Rally'?
* Why is the solar industry at risk?
* Should people be concerned?
* How does the freezing of the Solar Bonus Scheme affect people considering using solar?
* With less government support, will people continue to use solar?
* What do you hope to achieve at the rally?
* if this decision goes through, will this set an alarming precedent for other states?
* What is your message to those who may be attending the 'Solar's Last Chance Rally'?

This is the last chance for the new NSW government to take action and save the solar industry. Their recent inaction and indecision puts 5,400 green collar solar jobs at risk and leaves 20,000 NSW residents stranded.

The State's Solar Bonus Scheme has been frozen, pending a review. This leaves homeowners $25 million out of pocket for systems that may never be paid a feed in tariff.

More than 20,000 consumers are now in the dark while the NSW government reviews its solar policy.

Solar's Last Chance rally is a call to action for the NSW government who have a responsibility to the hundreds of small businesses, their families, and the wider NSW public who will be hurt by the cancellation of the scheme.

"AuSES and NSW homeowners are calling for certainty and security. The rally is the last chance for solar, because businesses and livelihoods are on the line", says AuSES CEO John Grimes.

What can YOU do to help the people of NSW:
* Attend the rally and show your support:
11:30am Wednesday 18 May
Barnet Long Room: Customs House
31 Alfred Street
Circular Quay, Sydney

* Contact the NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell

(02) 9228 5239

or

NSW Minister for Resources and Energy Chris Hartcher
office@hartcher.minister.nsw.gov.au
(02) 9228 5289

and URGE them to fix the solar bonus scheme IMMEDIATELY and allow people who were approved under the scheme to connect their solar systems to the grid. The NSW government should also announce an immediate 1:1 feed-in-tariff for everybody else.

  • we want an update please!

  • this whole thing is totally farcical, they want us to use less carbon due to their global warming scam and then they take away our opportunity to purchase and get a decent rebate from solar. Cant wait till we get these serpent psychopaths out of government.
