@krydder If I remember correctly, it was installed because Marlena was having strange dreams (it was really Stefano in the next apartment coming into hers at night) and she thought someone was breaking in so John installed it. Then when Marlena became possessed, I think that's when she/the demon removed it...either that or Stefano managed to get rid of it somehow. I can't remember exactly..I'm sure it's here somewhere.
