"It is important for all, especially ESPs, to be involved in politics," says Linda Estrada, a Campus Secretary in the Southside Independent School District, Donna, TX. Listen to her talk about why "we can't be afraid to speak up."

Linda is one of the half million Education Support Professionals in the ranks of NEA's 3 million members. School support staff members work side-by-side with teachers, professors, administrators and parents. Every day they make a positive impact on students. ESPs are educated, well-trained and experienced. The majority are in the profession for the long haul. Three-quarters of a school's ESPs live in the school district where they work. They are taxpayers. Their salaries contribute to their communities' economic well-being. These school workers know they have a strong voice to speak effectively for their work, students and schools. ESPs believe in and value advocacy and political involvement because such actions lead to healthier workplaces and communities. They know the everyday challenges they face make life better for all.
