Here is an intro to Matt's new project here at Eastwood. Check his blog for more updates as he tears into it! It's a 1950 Dodge Pickup Truck now called "Project Pilehouse" because the cabs were so large that they were knicknamed "pilothouse".
Check out the progress in future videos as he removes teh bed, installs air bags, lowers the truck, lengthens the bed, CHOPS the CAB, repairs the doors, sets it on an S-10 chassis and MORE!

I am doing a 57' Dodge short wheel base pickup on a S10 frame. They both share the 108" wheelbase so that is not a problem, but how is the track width?
The 57 and your truck have the same basic measurements, and someone torched my frame to remove the engine.

Sounds like you have a fun project planned! A short bed standard cab S10 does have almost the same wheelbase correct. The track width of the Dodge originally was wider than a 2wd S10, but you can compensate by installing a 4WD S10 rear or running wider wheels with a more aggressive offset or backspacing. -Matt/EW

I'm thinking of dropping mine on a 2000 dakota rt.... Do you think it would work

The short answer is: Anything can work with enough modification! I would start by checking for the wheelbase specs for a dakota that era and see if it is remotely close to your classic truck. If it isn't pretty close, you will have to chop and shorten your dakota chassis or lengthen the bed of the classic truck to fit the longer wheelbase. Obviously there are associated modifications need to accomplish both, but that's an idea. Thanks for watching! -Matt/EW

The beauty of Hot Rodding and custom cars/trucks is that there aren't any "Rules", just opinions. Thanks for watching.

I have a 1953 Dodge that has been in the family since the mid sixties, in need of a restoration. One of the vehicles I learned to drive when I was around ten years old. Have considered different frames that I could put under it, champagne taste on a beer budget. If and when I ever start on it there will be a mopar under the hood.

Putting it on a different frame ruins it. If you want a bloody s10 buy an s10.
