This is intended for a "multi-screen web installation" with the video I made for my cover of Thatness and Thereness. It's a demonstration of how to walk when you're a Heian.

  • In the Heian-kyo period of Japan the arts became a true blossom of the beautifulness of humanity & how far good manners & dress could be achieved. They took what they could from China & Korea and moulded their values to fit Japanese thought & sensitivity. There were only 2-3000 people who were called the "dwellers amoung the clouds." Murasake Shikibu's book "The Tale of Genji" was a singular, unique work of art in all the world. Her book "TTOG" has been classed as a world treasure by the UN.

  • @WillyyyV even today if you put on white makeup your teeth will look yellow.

  • @pinkally1986 acshully they would do that because they could not care for their teeth back then, so their teeth were yellow. So their skin was white, but their teeth yellow which looked odd and ugly, so they just decided to paint them black XD

  • No offense, but I thought I was watching horror movie trailer or anything that sort after 0.43

  • Thank you :)

  • This is called Junihitoue which basically means 12-layered clothing. The kimono that has become popular to Western world came from Edo period, I believe.

  • Thanks, you're very funny, I guess you do like your Udon noodles. Anyhow thanks for your honesty....:)

  • I do not know what the dress is called, I am not Japanese, not Korean. Sorry.

from udon890 - I like to eat udon, that is all.

  • Thanks for posting this video. It seems very interesting to me because for the longest time I've been intrigued both by Kimono and whatever attires were worn during the Heian period. Anyhow I just wished the video had been longer and that you hadn't done the backward walking thing. It its my understanding that ladies of that time walked very gracefully but I couldn't see that walking backwards. Anyhow thank you...:)

  • Question for you or anyone else, is this still consider a Kimono of that era or was called something else??
