  • What are the specs on the electric motor? How much horse power and how much voltage/amps and how many batteries will it take?

  • The motor was out of a 36V forklift. There was no ID plate telling the amperage or horsepower. Forklift motors can handle high amps, and I am told can be run at up to around 100 volts.

I will be running this one at 72 volts using a 400 amp peak controller. That means it should peak at about 38 HP.

  • nice!

have you seen my rim restore video?

i painted my Geo metro rims white on the video.

  • I didn't see yours, but I did watch somebody else's similar video on Youtube.

  • Why don't you make a war for the low price conversion market against the Honda/Toyota?

  • Well just have a dely set up before the motor switches fully off. then that would also allow the Power steering Pump to work. But have the motor cut off say if you was in a trafic jam. Just a pre set delay. Simple.

  • Mechanically, AT's are not energy efficient. If you use an AT you stand to incur energy losses, that means that you won't get optimal performance with your car. You may also damage your motor with an AT. According to transmission experts, the automatic gearing depends on an idling engine to keep hydraulic pressure up. At a stop, the engine will stop running and thus lose pressure. You can overcome this with an additional pump but it all amounts to building up expense for the conversion.

  • Can I ask why you chose to use a Manual gear box, and Not an Automatic.?

  • Good Work!! Looks like the project is coming along nicely! Looking forward to more updates!

  • Nice update! And I love your choice of music. That was really weird to see the inside of the motor spin. It was awesome...
