Rob Houghtlin's game winning field goal as time expired gave #1 Iowa a 12-10 win over #2 Michigan in Kinnick Stadium on October 19, 1985. Here is Jim Zabel and Ed Podolak's radio call from this great Hawkeye moment.
I remember this game in 85, I was 13 and was so excited for our Hawks to win and remain number 1 in the nation. My Mom who was an avid Hawkeye fan, passed away a year later in 86, would turn down the tv sound and listen to WHO and watch the games. She went crazy when the kick was good as did we all. Everywhere you looked in Cedar Rapids there was Hawkeye tiger Hawk logos on everything. The state of Iowa was in a Hawkeye drunken stupor and those were great times. Thanks for the post! Go Hawks!
