  • @CTOL1 I agree with the UPS and the AC might even be cleaner but don't quote me on that. Rob

  • UPS "Uninteruptable Power Supply" for computers come in all sizes, and usually have internal batteries. What makes these affordable is when the internal batteries got bad many just get scraped. they come in 12, 24 and other voltages. Nothing stopping you from connecting an external battery and having it do standby for a sump or well pump if it is large enough to start it

  • Well I live in Botswana, Africa. and its was 46 ºC = 114.8 ºF we have had no electricity of 4 days in a row, that means no aircon. So I am going to get some solar panels!!

  • @joseluis1029 -- If you search on ebay, there is a PowerJack 1500-watt pure sine wave inverter with 3,000 watt surge. It is priced at $199 with shipping included. I think they are made in Taiwan, and I am not sure how good they are. If you use a modified sine wave inverter, electric appliances will run hotter and not last as long. Pure sine wave is a "cleaner" electricity. But you can find modified sine wave inverters much cheaper.

  • I think you doing great it up and good luck to you and your family

  • This advice is just for you in a part of the world that has the odd blackout.

Although deep cycle batteries are great for day to day solar use ect, it is fine to grab some old used car batteries for emergency use from the scrap yard. You should just charge em and store em. Check on em occasionally and top up charge any you need to.

Take a multimeter to the scrap yard with you and just pick the best batteries, one that look in good condition and have a nice high voltage. Just for blackouts.

  • Looks like youre doin ok, hang in there and take care. Joe
