Tempe, AZ - The extremely unpopular Redflex red light, photo radar and mobile enforcement cameras are going to be shut off in Tempe as of July 19th. City council members refused to renew the contract in an election year.
It also didn't help that Redflex was suing Tempe to squeeze more money out of the taxpayers.
This is a victory for the people of Tempe.
I still see people slowing down quickly and creating a hazard before these inactive cameras which are still there.... it's dangerous. I had two cars in both lanes ahead of me slam their brakes.... and they weren't even speeding.. maybe within 5mph of the posted speed limit..

Good. If Tempe would have voted them back in, I woulda voted them out. We Arizonans like the 6th Amendment. Hey Tempe, when you lie with snakes (Redflex) YOU GET BIT! I will bet you anything that accidents don't go up after this.
