350.org messenger, President Nasheed of the Maldives calls on over 100 heads of state at United Nations to take immediate action to reach 350 in order to protect the survival of his nation.

According to the latest science, we must reduce Carbon Dioxide in our atmosphere to 350 parts per million in order to safeguard the survival of island nations such as the Maldives. Developed nations are currently proposing increasing C02 to 450, 500, or 600 parts per million.

In the words of President Nasheed, this would be "suicide" for his nation and its 350,000 residents.

But there's a growing movement around the world calling for real climate solutions, and anchoring those solutions with a bold climate target: 350 ppm. Together, we'll demand a fair, ambitious, and binding treaty that reaches the 350 target.

Join the 350 International Day of Climate Action on October 24 and fight for the survival of all nations and peoples:

  • @lyingpresident1004

in all of your comments, we see ignorance of facts.

he brought maldives to the attention of the international community, is that so bad?

the dollar rate did not increase, it was given a band of fluctuation, to allow legal exchange for more people in the dollar crisis.

population relocation is an ongoing project, and if i remember right, there has been more progress in his 4 years of rule, than the last 30 years.

and its becuase of arrogance from people like you that is probs

  • @raanyatube Are you still sure ?? or we should change the change?. lol Nasheed was a mistake we should have elected Someone else.. who knows how to run a Country. face it.. we are all at Rock bottom.

  • Thumbs up if you Agree That All Maldivians Should relocate To Australia! :)

cause they have better education standards and health facilities then all asian countrys!!

  • Thumbs up if you Agree That All Maldivians Should relocate To Australia! :)

  • Nasheed wants to get attention and popularity of international media. He does not want to do things beneficial to the maldivian community. He should be ashamed of himself representing "Maldives" and people of the country. How much aid did he get from the international community to protect our environment. How much did he get from leasing our international airport. It must be more than 1.3 billion dollars. Where are these dollars why had the dollar rate increased to 15.42 from 12.85.

  • We need foregn currency to import goods from other countries. These are things we require for our basic needs. How many people in our country lives under poverty. More than 70 percent of our country shares there income within their family for their basic needs. 60 percent of their income is spent for rent in Male' and 1/3rd of the population of entire country lives in Male'.And 60 percent of the population of Male' lives for rent and they are from the rural atolls.

  • My question is what has he done for the development of these islands. Why haven't the government or nasheed relocated people from tiny islands to a bigger island. We don't need to promote a good transport system. This is a matter for the rich people who owns 20 story aparments in their own land in Male'. Because if Nasheed's goverment fails this would be a real big problem for the land owners.
