@GZR666 Huh? Football is called football because of its relation to Rugby Football. Soccer is another form of football called Associative Football. All of these names come from England. Anyone who has question need look no further then England and its confusing way of naming sports in the 1800's. Not to anyone in particular but England please get your stuff together before complaining.

@ItsameAlex Actually the reason we call it football is because of it's origins. The inspiration for the game came from a football (or as we say "soccer") game where out of desperation a player picked up the ball, ran, and dove past the goal tender into the net. An American witnessed this and American Football was born. Why the name wasn't changed? I have no idea. Do we use a ball? Just cuz it's wampacotted doesn't make it not a ball. But I'm not trying to argue, just an interesting tidbit.
