I'm not so sure about that... the corner gas website cites it as being "Reader Pride", which is odd, because now that you point it out, it would have made more sense to name it "Rider Pride" because of the Roughriders.

Its a combination of the two stories. Reader is for the smut. Pride is for the Rider pride. It's wordplay.
