it`s a great camera for photography of course!.. for video mode.. it is not bad with 24fps HD.. but some people may consider its competitor canon 500D which captures Full HD 20fps.. the manual focus is not that hard to use.. and of course it depends on lens.. i used kit lens.. not bad creating DOF.. ;).. like most people say.., for nice DOF use 50/f1.8 or faster
