I rode this in the late 70's during the dead of Winter. The building at the bottom had been partially burned. A guy came out and charged me and a friend $5 each. I think he lived there. The whole ride back I was ready to jump off as the guide rails were missing in sections, especially hwere the two cars passed each other. The guy behind the car is riding a guide rail on his "Devil's Shingle". Each car had wide iron wheels, but no flange. The wooden guide rails kept the car on the rail.
I was just hiking up there today. I was online simply searching for some pictures from Mt. Beacon's "glory days" and stumbled across this. How exciting!! Thank you for posting this!
I can't remember riding up and back down on this railway, but I do remember having hiked from Beacon/Fishkill up to the casino at the top of the mountain when I was a kid playing hookey from school in Newburgh.
A friend of mine had permission to run the car after it had closed down. Mr Allen owned it at that time. We went and partied up there. That was probably around 1969.
Quite amazing that someone had the money, idea and know-how to shoot this remarkable little film in the first year of the Incline.

I remember riding this in the mid to late 70's. Beacon was a mess then, it's good to see that it has changed for the better in recent years!

Just stumbled upon this. My mother, who is 91, often told me about going dancing at the casino.
