This was Polaroid's attempt to do for movies what they did for pictures- allow you to shoot then view them without developing. The film came in a cassette then it was developed as it was rewound, then could be played in a rear-projection viewer. Unfortunately home video recorders had already become popular (though smaller camcorders wouldn't be around for a few more years) so this was essentially obsolete by the time it came out.
sure... portable....

@KKD1247 From what I discern, the Polaroid Polavision had no sound.

Good, intelligent idea, just came a little too late.

I was amazed when this came out. Then...well, then it was old almost instantly. Once saw an antique store that had dozens of these things -- cameras and players. I should have picked one up for old times sake.

I have this player but stupid me threw out the camera years ago, but the player still is with me and still works.

I have that camera and an old cartridge. I got them out of a dumpster that was behind a camera store that was going out of business a few years ago. I have never seen the player before. Cool video!

I think the quaity would be the same, maybe even better if the optics and pressure plate in the projector where of a higher standard than the Polaroid system.

True - and at a HUGE loss in quality!
