To patjones631 - you are rightly proud - you are part of one of the worlds greatest poets and one of Englands greatest sons. John Clare was one of the first voices of nature and i think some of his local walks still exist - although much of the countryside has changed. I was at clare cottage on saturday 9th july 2011 playing music and reading his poems - my videos are on youtube i hope you like them

There are still many of John Clare's relatives living~ I decended from John Clare/poet ~ 1793-1864, to the eldest son ~ John Clare 1826-1911~ to his son John Frederick 1861 to John Clare 1894 and his daughter Joan Clare 1922 was my mother. You can find a lot of detail on John Clare's site on the internet, but I should imagine you have already done that. If I can help you in anyway, please contact me.

John Clare did not live there in the 17th century. He lived there very late 18th century into the 19th century.
