how about a world without aluminium bombs being thrown on poor villages for cheap oil in the eats. or rainforest being destroyed by open bauxite mining in India. how about a world with out coca cola cans that steel de drinking water in India. how about a world without planes and cars polluting the air and people not having to travel to the other side of the world to find a place they havn´t fucked up yet. yeah, i´d stay home.

The only emissions created in aluminum smelting are from baking the carbon anodes used in the potlines. The alcoa plant in Iceland does not make their own anodes. They are baked in norway, and shipped to iceland. The reason for this is that iceland doesn't have any natural gas for the anode furnaces. The florides emissions are from the bitumen used. Sulfides and CO2 are also emitted. Both the florides and sulfides can eliminated by reburning the furnace flue gas, which is done in norway.

Also, aluminum factories don't have to be powered by coal or oil just because they're not in Iceland. There is wind power, solar power, wave power and lots more.

well aluminum factories are responsible for the toxic waste called fluoride, which alcoa buys i believe and sells to water authorites who dump it in our water.

aluminium smelting has very little emissions. especially when it is powered by hydo-electric and geo-thermal power. Consider the other option a coal fired plant operating somewhere else in europe.

Then you need to remove the cores around the centres where the waves of destruction are emitted from.

Notice the fact that the people behind Alcoa are unable to operate nearby fertile ground areas unless by destroying them first. That tells you that they are not human beings and what Saving Iceland is protesting against is how these non - human intelligences are abusing the environment , and it´s sad that these corporations tend to be humanized so much in the media,
