The video shows a balloon flight performed for the Subsonic Parachute Development program in the framework of the MARS SCIENCE LANDER mission to the red planet.

The subsonic parachute is a 110 ft. diameter ringsail design built by Pioneer Aerospace.

The sequence show the exact moment of the termination procedure including the balloon destruction and colapse and the parachute deployment. This mission was launched by the National Scientific Balloon Facility from Fort Sumner (NM) on October 26, 2004.
