Note: Humans can notice when audio is out of sync with video by as little as 1/4 of a second. If you think that Nettles can actually sing the same song 3 times with the same timing of all the words, with a margin of error of less than 1/4 of a second total for the whole ~4 minutes, then you are truly an idiot.

I've seen YouTube commenters praise Nettles for sounding as good "live" as she does in the studio. There is a good reason for that: she lip syncs to a studio recording during her "live" performances.

In this video I have placed two of her "live" performances side by side, and you can see that they synchronize with each other perfectly. Not only do they synchronize with each other perfectly, but they synchronize perfectly with Sugarland's studio recording of "Stuck Like Glue" (i.e., the recording you hear on the radio or if you listen to their CD), which I demonstrated in this video by deleting the original audio (which included the sounds of the audience and such) and muxing in the studio recording audio.

This is of course impossible for truly live performances, as no two live performances are identical, not even when done by the same performers. This is because humans are not machines. Audio playback devices *are* machines however, which is why a given recording sounds the same every time you play it, and Jennifer Nettles sounds the same every time she "sings" this song "live".

  • Also if you've ever paid any attention to Sugarland's songs, they tend to change the song up a bit when they get used to playing it. Both of these videos were recorded around the time that Stuck Like Glue was released, which means that the band wasn't yet familiar enough the song to change it up, so they played it safe and did the song exactly as it was when they recorded it.

  • But listen to the videos individually, her voice has a different range in all three versions, the only reason this looks like she's lip syncing is because the band has impeccable timing. And she would never lip sync, because Sugarland canceled several shows due to Nettles having strain on her vocal cords, if she didn't care then she would have lip synced then too.

  • @littlemisssugarland I haven't contradicted anything I've said, moron.

"so maybe she got lucky on these two"

No bimbo, she didn't get lucky. She's lipsyncing; that's the only way it will ever happen. The odds of singing a song 3 different times (studio version + 2 live versions) with identical timing (identical gaps between all words + identical vocal durations for each word) is something like the odds of winning the lottery every week for the next 50 years.

  • @MaximRecoil ur contradicting what you've been saying all along..... you said shes not a robot, so of course shes not going to have the same timing on every song.....so maybe she got lucky on these two.. cuz y wud she only do it on 2 performances?.... u call me an airhead??? If u like them than y are u calling them out on this, y do u care, and y did u take the time to craft this whole thing together?

  • It has already been established that you (and others) are stupid.

    "second of all ..."

What do you mean "better"? Trying to replicate timing from a previous performance isn't even a logical goal, not to mention that it is next to impossible anyway. You think she did it 2 times. You're not smart enough to mentally process this. Try to find an example of ANYONE'S truly live performance syncing with its studio counterpart.

    "if u dont like them"

Who said I didn't like them, airhead?

  • @MaximRecoil ha.... this is entertaining... first of all none of these people are stupid, nor am I........second of all shes performed this song over 300 times, the timing is going to better on some performances rather others... third of all u took the time to " craft" that whole comment, and still avoided my question... if u dont like them why the heck do u care so much?

  • @littlemisssugarland "we aren't stupid"

    That's a laugh.

"You put the freakin recording over the video, so of course its going to sound perfect!"

This establishes your stupidity and inability to understand what's going on.

"As for the timing..she sings this song for a LIVING"

I've already linked to an example of her truly singing live which DOESN'T sync to her studio version; which is to be expected because truly live versions NEVER sync to studio (nor any other) versions, EVER.

  • @MaximRecoil blah, blah, blah.... Okay, Dude you keep reciting the same thing over and over again! And of course we understand what you did in the video, we aren't stupid, and its a simple concept. Plus you have explained it to us like 7 billion times, unwelcomly.. here r some glitches ... You put the freakin recording over the video, so of course its going to sound perfect! As for the timing... she sings this song for a LIVING.... And frankly if ur not a fan, why do u care so much?

  • @littlemisssugarland I've already addressed this, which you would know had you read the thread. Read the thread and look for the words "backing track".

Also, you, like everyone else who has posted on this thread, have absolutely no concept of what's happening in the video I posted. To believe that someone could have 3 separate performances of a song sync with each other is to believe in miracles. Only a robot could do that.

  • I have seen them live. And if u have had seen them live than u would no that Jennifer adds in words or phrases in a song, that are evidently not in the recording. For examle in tbis song at a live performance, jennifer says noooo in between "some days i don't feel like trying" & "some days you know i wanna just give up" So i challenge you to listen to a live performance, & then listen to the recording & you will hear the difference. Then u can get back to me. Oh & BE FREAKIN RESPECTFUL 2OTHERS!!
