I got Kirby because the pony I was riding got taken away. I was not an experienced rider and didn't know what to look for in a pony. I looked at a few ponies, each having some problem, and then I came across Kirby. I visited him and rode him a couple of times. I was finally getting a pony of my own and to me he was good. We brought him to my trainers. That night he didn't drink and wasn't eating much. He wasn't settling in well. He got through the night and he got comfortable with his surroundings. He was the pony I had always wanted. He was mine! I was showing him and having a blast. Then a month went by and he changed DRASTICALLY. It started with him bouncing not letting anyone get near him. I was starting to get scared of him. He started to rear when I was leading him and was suddenly petrified of water. You couldn't get ANYWHERE near him with it. He would kick at people. And we were really confused about why he was doing all of this. We got a chiropractor thinking it was his back, so we got him a back pad. I was too scared to ride him and so we had someone riding him for us. I didn't want anything to do with him. Everyone said he's not the horse for me, and we weren't the perfect match. So I believed them. We put him up for sale for a year and he wasn't selling. After a few months of people riding him, he was starting to calm down. I was convinced to get back on him. I started all over again with crossrails and slowly gaining back my confidence. I even started showing him again. And everything was going so good. I was jumping him 2'6 and I thought we had it. Then at one show he reared straight up while I was schooling him. People were saying I needed to sell him. He's too dangerous. No one could believe I stayed on. We put shoes on him and got his teeth done thinking that might be why. Luckily I just happened to be best friends with someone at the show and she started coming riding with me and riding him for me. After watching her ride my pony I started gaining confidence and wanting to ride him again. I again started all over again. My trainer had someone at the barn ride him during the week, and then we started him on joint supplements. It has done miracles. He is a totally different horse. He now wants to be with you and is very willing. Now remember he wasn't that fancy eq pony. He wasn't winning every show and would speed through his courses. My trainer told me I needed to do jumpers on him. Of course that was just a thought because I am a very quiet and timid rider. And going fast wasn't in my vocabulary. But I decided to try it. His attitude automatically changed and he took me to every fence with a twinkle in his eyes. He LOVED it! It's like he told me this is what I've been trying to tell you. Now I am starting to do jumpers on him and jumping 2'9. I have ridden him recently for the first time bareback and bonded with him! Many of my friends said this isn't the horse you started with. He's changed for the better and you will go far. Just keep trying! I don't think I would be where I am now without the help of destiny (him not selling) and a couple of friends.
I love you. <3 See you tomorrow, you gotta jump 3'-3'3 tomorrow im gonna sneek it up haha jk, you'd kill me.... nvm marylou would kill me even more. Can't wait to see you in the grand prix one day. (:
