From the KCOY Film Festival this segment aired at just the right time, with just the right message to parallel our two small stations and the management thereof. This cut up version was shown at the Film Festival.
@somethinsuavetheater Thanks for your reply. It makes me even happier than before that I didn't buy the set! Hopefully these posts will also serve as a warning to some unwary souls who may be considering buying the DVDs. And hopefully someone at Fox will read these comments and consider re-issuing it with the original soundtrack intact.
@JohnnyS001 Im a huge fan of WKRP and my theroy was that unless if you watched them when they were originally aired, you wouldn't really tell what was cut. BOY WAS I WRONG! I got the DVD for my collection, as well as some VHS tapes I picked up over the years. There was music replaced in the pilot ep and they played the same scene in another ep and the original music was there! It was horribly done. Very sloppy. Fox should've licensed it to Shout Factory or another company.
@somethinsuavetheater Then that's a stupid mistake on their part. I don't know about you, but I suspect there were quite a few people out there like me who refused to buy the DVD collection because the music was changed. So they may have saved a little money short term, but they probably lost a lot of sales over the long term.
Man, I love this episode. What a GREAT show this was! Probably the best sitcom ever. And what a tragedy that they couldn't release a proper DVD collection with all the original music intact.

@JohnnyS001 They could've. But Fox is cheap.
