This is a simple project - i will build a clone of the Small Stone phaser as a floor effects unit with some modifications to add some more control over the sound.

Dur to the simplicity of this project, i decided to document all steps, starting with making the PCB for it, ending with the tests. So not all videos appear at once, but i think this should happen within 3 weeks or so. Make sure to come back and see if new parts appeared with the time.

This is part 3 showing assembly of the boards.

  • man they are tiny resistors etc...

    you must have great eyes..

  • Not great eyes, but a good magnifier :) Those resistors are large ones. 1206. Maybe i try 0603 some day. Half the size. "dust"...

  • Very Interesting, Thanks.

Question: How do you clean solder away, that has tracked over (and short) to another copper line, say around a transistor? Especially at theses small distances.

  • For a very small amount, i usually get away with "cutting" the short with the hot iron tip, eventually "pulling" the solder along the tracks or pads. For more, use a desolder wick or pump first. In very rare cases, it might help to heat up the place and use a sharp knife to carefully cut the hot solder. This especially helps with shorts over fine pitched SMD legs, as you don't get between them with a normal tip.

  • Thanks MusicMiK.

I have a project that went bad on me, after seeing what you could do with such a fine hand/touch, I may try and recover the mess I got my self into.

Thanks for the info and keep up the good work.

  • This has been very instructive, thanks very much for posting this series of vids!
