The title says it all. Republican Rep. Rohrbacher doesn't believe in human causes of global warming. But he does believe that dinosaur flatulence caused it in prehistory.

I wouldn't be so casual about throwing the 'tard' word around if I were you. To say whether global warming is caused by the sun or by human causes is just haggling over that which is proven as occuring. Just yesterday the White House issued a statement saying that 'global warming was a fact'. Global Warming as a scientific observation existed long before Gore jumped on it. And so what's so bad about cutting carbon emissions?

Actually to add... Bush declared a definite link between global warming and the recent flooded areas in Illinois. He's a bit late on this by about 7 years. His admin resisted the idea of global warming citing also the costs to the economy of retooling industry to cut CO2 emissions... but the recent flooding cost the economy about 1.6 billion dollars in agriculture. And the already lack of food crops is already causing rising food prices.

There are plenty of proveable symptoms of global warming like melting arctic ice shelves, rising sea levels, unusually extreme weather patterns like major fires caused by drier warmer climates and sunamis. It's not a stretch to consider a heightened green house effect causing this. But I do understand the argument of solar irradiance as being the cause... (which nonetheless still recognizes the fact of a global warming occuring) Which makes the 'scam' statement out to be pretty lame.

You never answered my question. If 'man-made global warming' wasn't around during the last ice ages, how ever did the ice rescind ?

I understand the argument that the sun's heat variance creates gradual changes in the earth's atmosphere but spread out over billions of years. But the other and more widely accepted idea is has to with undersea vulcanic activity and the release of undersea pockets of methane gasses that may also have caused an extreme green house effect. Saying that solar activity is the only probably cause patently wrong because there are always competing theories.

In fact it did. The earth's climate changed steadily over the dino era, and so different dinosaurs came and went.

But with the increased abundance of life, methane wold have been more easily disposed of. Plus, the change from animals would be too gradual to cause a mass extinction of such magnitude, as evoloution would allow for survival by some species.

Dinosaurs may be partly to blame for a change in climate because they created so much flatulence, according to leading scientists.

Professor Graeme Ruxton of St Andrews University, Scotland, said the giant animals spent 150 years emitting the potent global warming gas, methane.

Large plant-eating sauropods would have been the main culprits because of the huge amounts of greenery they consumed.

@ 0:38-0:41 He is not saying that was the actual cause. Back in December 2006 the UN came out with a report blaming cow flatulence. So maybe .... Nah, just kidding. But dinosaurs are a whole lot bigger thans cows, maybe they were prehistoric cows. Bovisaurus flatulous!

20 years ago when I lived in Orange County, CA, I actually voted for this idiot (as well as other Republicans.) I can't believe how ignorant these folks are.
