  • Hi, thanks for this tutorial, very helpful. Could you please tell me exactly which capacitors to purchase? Are they all the same or different? The two bottom right ones are blown in my iMac G5.

  • I would suggest using something called "Chip Quik" for removing capacitors in difficult circuit boards like this. Works a bit better than the pens.

    Also, a wide tip, high-wattage iron does the best job because they keep heat from transferring into the board.

    Also, try using a sewing pin, with a plastic head, and heat up the tip and the solder pad at the same time, once the caps are removed.

  • This is the best video I've seen of the process, thanks. I have an iMac with bad caps and it doesn't seem worth the effort and cost of materials to do the repair before I sell it on ebay. Since you already know how to fix it and you have the tools, you should start a business doing it for people!
