  • Part 1

Counter steering is the most powerful/effective way to initiate the lean, and thus cornering of the bike. Once the bike is in the correct leaned position, then other means can be used to "fine turn" the steering during travel through the corner.

  • Part 2

For example, other techniques for steering the bike include: body position (changing the center of gravity), weighting the inside peg, hooking your knee on the tank and pulling the tank towards the inside, increasing throttle to "push" the bike outward and decrease the throttle to lean/steer the bike inwards, trail braking to lower the front geometry which allows the bike to more easily turn inward and of course disciplining yourself to always keep your eyes on where you want to go.

  • @luq080290 You will still need to counter steer.

  • so do we still need to countersteering or we just put pressure on the peg to take a corner?

  • Hips and shoulders should both be facing into the turn to stay aligned. The video seems to show his hips "pivoting" around the tank. This will misalign your body, causing you to have to twist your spine to orient your shoulders into the turn. Not only will this create a hazardous condition when you encounter uneven pavement, but will negate the possibility of utilizing your knee pucks as a gauge. You can try it, but I wouldn't want to develop that particular bad habit. The ground is hard!!!

  • No, you setup first. Get your arse off the seat counter steer and get your body down.

  • I've tried counter and body on the HW in town, My opinion is as your body shifts, say left, the left arm should give just a bit of counter without u really tried, just because of how the body is position. If u lean out and then counter, it will turn so hard on you. and it's also personal riding style/skills as well on all that.

  • one question do u use counter steering to get the bike down and then lean the body?

  • These videos are great tools for people riding at the track. Great idea for these videos
