Just chilling on a twisty road on what was my daily driver (sold). I'm not on a racetrack, not maxing the car, just toying around a bit while staying safe and coming back in one piece.

This is Highway 53 in Oregon. The road was halfway wet.
97-01 Prelude SH
Cheap $40 adjustable springs, stock struts
Stock Rims with great Bridgstone Potenza Tires, Speed Rated "W" (168 MPH), no reason to drive that fast, but higher speed rating seriously helps with grip at any speeds.
DC Header
Cheap BOMZ racing cold air intake with old filter
Old clogged catyletic converter
Custom exhaust
ATTS unit is not functioning.

There might be cars out there that can take a corner faster, but few are so predictable, especially for the price. The Prelude provides almost a perfect link between the road and the driver. Steering is responsive, changes direction immediately, especially with with higher speed rated tires and slightly lower / stiffer suspension. Exhaust noise is beautiful, and the H22A4 2.2 Liter engine provides decent tourqe for its size.

A confident driver is good, and the Prelude gives you just that. An overconfident driver is as bad as a nervous driver and that can happen in any car.

Whatever the car, you still need common sense in the end. Stay safe. On downhill turns, make sure you brake early and drive slower through them. Uphill gives you much better grip in any car, and shorter stopping distance.

  • But would it normally? Or your ATTS failed already.....?

  • @dawnnadir - bought the car with it not working. Car was always lowered, maybe thats why? Not sure why.

  • Is your ATTS works?

  • @dawnnadir - ATTS was not working on the Prelude when this video was made.

  • Biggest mistake the honda prelude is there front wheel drive, if they had made them rear wheel drive it would have been awsome!

  • @natrensland - Making the Prelude a front wheel drive was not a mistake but a strategic business decision to make the Prelude appealing to a wider market (the average sporty car guy) even if it meant loosing a smaller market (the hard core racer). It all comes down to maximizing profits. Give Honda credit for making an exceptionally great handling front wheeler despite the compromise. Rear wheel drive is what the S2000 was for, a smaller market.

  • Road was inconsistent, really wet to dry areas, dark, old stock clutch that slips especially uphill in higher rpms. Just tryin to find a balance between having fun with what I have and getting home in one piece.

  • @dawnnadir

    * "should"

  • @dawnnadir

And I think you think fix it....I can feel the difference with and without it....It really helps cornering.....!!!

  • @INTERNATIONALvids

    I have a 1997 Prelude SH...with 231,426KM...still works fine.....I service it regularly...

  • The SH has ATTS (active torque transfer), but even the base model handles remarkably well, through the twisties.
