@confusedOoOo No. All indication present points to the fact that they tried to get the rights, but couldn't. Hence, they made their own version.

I have all the files in Japanese with Chinese subtitles (you can even see those in some clips). Those scenes were probably cut from the English version for some reason.

gorgeous. i used to watch this when i was like 6 then they stopped showing it and the nvids dissappeared-then in my school library a few of my friends dared me to get kimba out. so i did and it brought back so many memories. and did you happen to think that disney asked before using simba??

Well I was 2 when I first watched Kimba. I had a videotape (which I watched over and over until I ruined it and then my mother threw it away). I was only about a year older when I have first seen the lion king I can't really remember if I noticed the similarities at all. But it is interesting to how my 5 year old cousin compares the two whenever she watches one ^^
I am pretty sure she asked if Lion King was a Kimba remake at one point.
