@wskowalski oops. just called my mother and now she doesn't remember who sang it (well, she is 84), but you can find it on You Tube under Open the Door Richard by several people. I guess The Three Flames had a hit from it in the late 40s.

@CatMoves1 thx cat. Gonna have to track that song down, I do enjoy the Mills Bros. whenever I hear something by them.
-
@CainmosniMirrored Kudos to both you and catmoves, thx for the info. I've wondered about that line for years....

@wskowalski "Open the door, Richard" is a song released in 1947. That line is a reference to that song. I'm assuming "Open the door, Richard" might have been a popular catchphrase in the late 40's because of it so Sam said "notice I didn't say Richard?" as a stab at the people that always said it.

@wskowalski I asked my mom that question a few years ago. according to her at that time there was a song out by the Mills Brothers called "Open the Door, Richard". It was a hit and radio stations played it to death. I guess people got sick of it and Warner Bros./Bugs Bunny being the little stinkers they are.........

3:12 how do you go THROUGH the wood? Guess that's cartoon logic.
-
wait... if bugs defied the law of gravity and knew it. then how can it be that he never studied law?
answer: cartoon logic

@wskowalski wretchard as in "open up this wretchard door"

does anyone know what the reference is to when sam says "did ya notice I didin't say richard?"....?
I'm surprised at how many jokes they could fit in with the high-diving bit alone.
