All Kirk really ever needed to work on was vibrato and bends. And no I'm not hating, but it's the honest truth. All the best lead players have great vibrato and kirk didn't seem to focus much on it. He can use as much wah or pentatonics as he wants (Zakk Wylde does)... just a great vibrato and he'd be fine in my book, and his solos would have twice the power to them or more.
