  • I actually visited the orphanage a few days after she was buried. The day before we arrived, the children place bricks around her gravesite. It was a very moving experience. The two ladies that were there invited us into Ros's house for tea and Oreo cookies(Ros's favorite). The orphanage has beautiful children and a great big heart. She will be missed.

  • How marvelous that you had the opportunity to visit the orphanage, it is such a magical and beautiful place, with something of a timeless quality to it. It will never be the same now that Roz is gone but I still hope to go back someday just to experience the feeling of being there.

  • Could you tell me where her grave is ? I just got back from Rwanda on a tour with COmpassion International, Roz is my hero. She did exactly what I want to do! I want to live in Rwanda, never have I been anywhere else that I felt so immediately at home, I am in love with Rwanda and its beautiful people!

  • Dear Warren,

Roz was buried on her flower plantation (the place is called Mugongo and is near Gisenyi). The farm is also the site for the newly built Imbabazi orphange.

  • Thank you for posting this.

She was a wonderful human being.

    We will always remember her.

  • And thank you for your kind words. Roz will be missed but never forgotten.

  • We spent two years in Ruhengeri as my husband cared for the gorillas. Ros was a dear friend, and we visited her often for tea. What I would have liked to have seen here was Simbagare's tribute, for he was her dearest friend. I still keep the letters Ros and I exchanged until her death.

Seeing this has given me closure. Thanks.

  • So delighted that you were moved by the video. She was indeed such a special person and it's an honor to have met and known her. The video is my tribute to her.

I hope the story of her life inspires and motivates others to follow her example.

  • Thank you for posting this. I met Ros Carr in 1997 and spent a day with her which I will never forget. Such a beautiful woman. It was still a shock to hear she had die when I discovered this a year or so ago. And to see this video, I was unexpectingly quite moved. Thank you again.
