Just to kill some time in town, I decided to take the train from Southend Victoria to the brand new station at Southend Airport which opened on July 18th 2011. Here are some shots I done while I was at the airport including a short photo slideshow at the end. Like the many people of Southend, I do support the expansion of this nice little airport with the pleasure of Easyjet flights from April 2012.
UPDATE: Tarmac is already being laid for the runway extension which should be completed by by the First Quarter of 2012, in time for the Easyjet flights.
UPDATE: JetisFaction's flights to Munster were meant to start on October 31st 2011, but they have suspended the start date until further notice due to 'operational reasons'. JetisFaction are yet to announce a new start date, but probably in the next few weeks.

@Aviationnation10 At the moment, but from October 31st this year, they'll be a daily flight to Munster which will make flights from Southend 3 a day and when the Easyjet flights start in April, this'll increase to around 12 flights a day (9 Easyjet Flights, 2 Aer Arann flights and the daily Munster flights) 13 flights on Saturdays when the Jersey flights fly. ;-)

Was there any one even on that train at the start ?

@mlinnie527 Yes there was. The station is often quite at the moment, but it's early days as the new terminal will open this October. The only time the station will be currently busy is at rush hour and passengers using/leaving the twice daily Waterford and Galway flights and the Saturday Jersey flight. The station will get more busy when Easyjet starts flying in April 2012.
