  • I can probably get the exact date of this broadcast from my cousin, Rual Yarbrough. Can I get a copy of the video to show him?

  • Hi

I downloaded it from BBC in UK - they showed it again last week as part of "Johnny Cash Night" I do not have a dvd copy - it was on the Johnny Cash Show between 69 and 72 I think

Tell the good old "Dixie Gentleman" everyone in UK apreciates his unique style of picking - a real master!

  • Thanks- all I know is that it was between 1969 and 1972 - on Johnny's TV show. There is a highlights DVD with it on, I'm surprised it wasn't on youtube already, this was on BBC2 in UK last night, sorry it is slightly out of sync. Keep on Pickin'!

  • Good music but the band looks so unenthusiastic...

  • @tjmacjee 1971 was the last year for the johnny cash show.

  • bill monroe is the american beethoven. PERIOD.

  • @ForceRecon75 Keep you right-wing politics in check, Marine. Bill Monroe belongs to us all

  • Interesting how they go from the original 3/4 time into an uptempo 4/4 whilst Bill's phrasing becomes more rhythmic.

Do you think Bill liked Elvis' interpretation of his song or was it done more to please audiences who may have been (more) familiar with Elvis' version?

  • @ForceRecon75 Lately it has been comin out, that Lee and Davis were both traitors, and did not have the interests of Dixie foremost in their hearts. Lee was involved in the murder of Jackson, and deliberate loss of the war. Benjamin was smilin and happy on inauguration day, when everybody else in Richmond was depressed. Check search term "vatican assassins".

  • That don't move me.

  • @BanjoBoyMatteo Hey, I believe it`s Bill Keith,on banjo...
