@alchemyfineliving Oh, cool, You didn't seem like the type to ruin a perfectly good antique. Nice work!

@oosyaoo Me too! She did a wonderful job just the piece was so nice, well, it could be restored... And at least she didn't hit it with a hammer!

can I hand brush the paint on??
GoGopinkGoGo 3 months ago
@GoGopinkGoGo with a paint brush you'll ahieve a much different look, a roller might be a better way to do it if you don't have a spray gun. If it's a small piece of furniture try a spray can of paint.

a satin finish. Valspar paint from Lowe's. Acrylic Latex. I don't remember what the specific color was though, sorry.

I'm in the UK, and I don't know what TSP is.

@easyworship short for Trisodium Phostphate. not sure if they sell it in the UK but I get it at the hardware store in the furniture painting section.

Watching this I nearly died. You paint beautiful old antiques to make them look the exact same as things that are being made this year?
Antiques were often made from super high quality timber that is now rare, not available for purchase and hugely expensive. The time taken to make a piece involved a lot of hard work. Yes I like the finished product (if it wasn't so beautiful to start with) but to see what was a beautiful timber covered in black paint killed me.

@oosyaoo you'll be happy to know that, although the night stand might have appeared to be a beautiful antique, it was actually made in like the 70's maybe 80's. and the top was veneer over partical board. it certainly wasn't a high quality antique to begin with.
