I did that on my Ranger way back. Pulled the weighted shift knob off. It left my hand and went right through the back window. I now know not to pull on the knob as I drop from 3rd to 4th. lol. Two 5-speed cars later, hasn't happened again, though both my cars have had screw-on short-throw knobs.
