They went to Intel because the G5 processors sucked too muck power to put in a laptop. The G5 processors are more powerful than Intel processors. The PS3 and Xbox 360 use them.

No, the cores in the PS3 and 360 are stripped down variants of the G5. And no again, the G5's aren't more powerful than CURRENT Intel processors, but if you meant than the P4 thats fine. IBM's current king is the POWER7. 8 cores per chip, 2 chips per module, 4 threads per core, at 3.8GHz for the octa core and 4.1 for the quad.

@tipoomaster Yes, I meant it's more powerful than processors that came out at the same time. I know the new Intel chips are more powerful. That POWER7 sounds like a fucking beast. I will need to check that out.
