** I know my pronunciation of the word "recipe" isn't right :P **

Note that it's quite difficult to get it right the first time (without burning it). I takes a lot of practice and a good knowledge of your oven.

* For better results make sure you choose quality ingredients

* Make sure you take the ingredients out of the fridge at least 2 hrs prior, so they're not too cool. It will facilitate the cooking process and will avoid bad surprises such as milk and eggs still liquid when the crust is already nearly burnt.

* If you don't like salmon and/or spinach you can use something else (ie ham & cheese...). Just stick to the egg and milk mixture(3eggs+1 cup of milk)

*** UPDATE : March 12th 2008 ***
I've just tried the recipe using only 2 eggs mixed with 2/3 cup of milk. It's easier to cook that way and there's no risk of burning it. the quiche will be a little flat that's all. still tastes really good.
Also the eggs shouldn't beaten too strongly like I did in the video.

FRENCH TRANSCRIPTION : Quiche saumon épinard


Les ingrédients

- 1 pâte feuilleté
- un peu d'épinards
- du saumon fumé (vous pouvez aussi utiliser du saumon frais. Personnellement je préfère le saumon fumé pour son goût et sa texture.)
- 3 oeufs
- ¼ de litre de lait (soit 25 cl)
- du sel et du poivre


1- Disposez votre pâte dans un moule à tarte.
2- Au fond, étalez les épinards puis le saumon.
3- Cassez et battez les œufs
4- Versez le lait.
5- Salez, poivrez. (Si vous utilisez du saumon fumé, évitez de trop saler)
6- Battez à nouveau
7- Versez le mélange sur la pâte
Voilà c'est fait, il ne vous reste plus qu'à enfourner.
A propos de la chaleur et du temps de cuisson, tout dépend de la puissance de votre four. Je dirais entre 25 et 30 minutes à four moyen. En fait, votre quiche est prête, quand le mélange œufs/lait est devenu solide.

  • j'ai reussi! But I think something like turkey would taste better? How do you say that in french? And my professer says the contraction "du" is only for "de le" and not "de la". I think he's mistaken. est-ce que c'est juste?

  • I'm not sure I know what turkey is, so I don't know the french word for it.

  • I tried it and I failed miserably. I used broken bread instead of pastry. But I failed because I used way too much milk; it never hardened. And the tomatoes didn't help either. But I will try again. Have you tried it with cheese?

  • I tested it with ham and cheese, instead of salmon and spinach and it tastes great.

    Try it with 2eggs and 2/3 cup of milk next time, it's easier and faster. perfect result success guaranteed (hopefully..)

    「出来た! オーブンに入れるだけです」might be improved into 「準備完了! あとはオーブンに入れるだけです」

    note: You could say「出来た!」only when you completely finish your task.

    「混合を注いでください」might be improved into 「混合物を生地の上に注いでください」.

    note: 「混合」means the action of mixing while 「混合物」means resulted thing you get after mixing.
