  • Sincere thanks for bringing Anna Case to life for me. I've heard most of her recordings and have numerous photographs....but seeing a video of her in action adds a whole other dimension.

  • @librarybob1958 Fascinating bits of information. Thanks for your interesting "extra bits."

  • This short appears to have been shot in the Hammerstein Opera House on 34th Street in Manhattan, now known as the Manhattan Center.

The future Rita Hayworth appears around two minutes into the short. However, the dates don't add up for her age. The film is from 1926, not 1928. The imdb has her official birth year as 1918. If you believe that, which I don't, she's eight years old here.

  • Anna Case (1888 - 1984) was an American opera and concert singer (Metropolitan Opera, 1910 - 1917) who, through her marriage ti millionaire Clarence Mackey, became Irving Berlin's step-mother-in-law.

The Cansinos were a family dancing act, one of whom, (then) 12-year-old Rita Cansino, would ultimately become Rita Hayworth.

This was one of several sound shorts accompaning the premiere of the first film to have a synchronized soundtrack, 1926's "Don Juan," with John Barrymore.
