One of Mel Brook's lesser known movies, but overall, it's a minor classic. I love it.

He also was hot in Dracula ( 1979 ) and almost got a Oscar nod for Diary of a Mad Housewfie.

russian version is way better than american one :) and im sure every eastern-european would agree with me :) this one seems a bit unrealistic.. no wonder its made by americans ;D no american will ever understand the real russian culture. same goes with dostojevsky, tolstoj.. - american ecranisations of some of their books are just terrible.. :)

In our (russian) movie Ostap is a older than he should be, so langella is a good choice here
but certainly no foreigner can understand and play Ostap's character without knowing Russia's reality of those days
