Test driving both the Fender Blues Junior with a Celestion Vintage 30 and new Dimarzio Area 58 (neck), Area 67 (mid), and Area 61 (bridge) pickups. Tested playing a simple blues riff, some scales, and then a few chords in each of the positions. First is clean (no pedals), followed by driven with an Ibanez TS-808.

My favorite is probably the Area 67 by itself, or when it's mixed with either the neck (58) or bridge (61). Area 67 has a bit fatter sound, Area 58 is very clean with a touch of "twang," Area 61 is a bit thin - That's all just my opinion though.

Hopefully this will help you make some decisions about Dimarzios and Fender Blues Juniors with Celestion Vintage 30's.

Enjoy that hunt for Tone!

  • Hi man! I also put these pickups on my 1985 Stratocaster and I like them. To the people who think that 58 sound thin: I thought the same once time, but it depends by your amp mainly, and also by the distance from the strings. With a bit of patience, you can find some great solutions. I personally have a fat sound in the neck position, I've just to work more on the height of the 61 in the bridge position, but overall, my guitar with these pickups sounds great!

  • @MikhailIosifovicSB Thanks for the inputs. Much appreciated.

  • how do you think the 67 neck , 58 mid, 61 bridge would sound?

  • @porlino87 I think that configuration would sound really good. Let me know if you like it!

  • @OneMinuteOnly I've also appreciated your guitar because it reminds me a lot mine, which was white but time, wax and oil had made it cream! Tales aside, congratulations for your sound and your playing, you made a truly convincing demo!

  • @Esbenmad Awesome!

  • @OneMinuteOnly Yeah, the area 67 really sounds great! I have had trouble finding a good middle pickup to play SRV and John Mayer like stuff - I think I have just found it:-)

  • @porlino87 I hear that the 58 has a "zingy" sound compared to the 67, which is odd because dimarzio rates the 67 to be a brighter pickup. hey, maybe i'll give them a call
