I am mexican, but I understand the reasons of the texans farmers to rebel. However, people like Houston and Crocket were not really farmers, they were infiltrated agents whose goal was not even the independence of Texas, but the integration to the USA. They were non-welcome foreigners, whatever contract they had with the mex government was void by the rebellion, so they were filibusters, that is the older, but still accepted definition of filibuster.

@powerdriller10 filibusters period was when spain still had control of Texas. Filibusters came in when immigration wasnt allowed into Texas. these guys weren't filibusters

The worst thing that the texans filibusters did to Mexico was not killing Santa Anna when they captured him. Houston was very shrewd and a long sighter by saving the life of that SOB.

Si los Texanos hubieran fusilado a Santa Anna, Tejas se hubiera perdido igual, pero México se hubiera librado de ese perro del "quince uñas" (así le decían por lo ratero y por que perdió una pierna.). Santa Anna fue una calamidad para México.
