I'm amazed at the comments here, especially about Saddam. I've read up on him, and he really was progressive toward education, women's rights, and he built a very stable, economically sound country. He never should have gone into Iran. Dumb move.

Reagan gave him billions in aid after that war and a tacit approval to go into Kuwait. Then we take up Kuwait's side. How screwed up is that? It's my understanding that Saddam believed that Kuwait should be part of Iraq. Also dumb on his part.
