The Tidal Wave coaster that once stood at the Great America park in CA, as shown by the shorter, flag-less sky tower in background. I'm not sure when this was shot but it was definitely pre-Vortex. Tidal Wave was a weight-launched Schwarzkopf shuttle loop coaster that used a weight in the far spike beyond the loop to launch the coaster. The weight was lifted and dropped, pulling the coaster car along. Tidal Wave opened in 1977, a year after Great America opened. The ride was renamed to Greased Lightning in 1999 (and took on various colors during its life from light blue to a darker teal, to finally a cyan/lime green color scheme. The ride was removed for the 2002 season where it sat in the parking lot at the neighboring Six Flags parking lot where it then was moved to Kentucky Kingdom with it's sister coaster (That lived at the Six Flags Great America park) as spare parts.
This is great stuff! What year was this filmed?
