The introduction of the Blackstar HT1 is a welcome piece of equipment to all us budding bedroom and studio guitarists. REAL Tube tone at 'respectable' volume.
Truth be told cranking this little beast is still very loud and I would love to gig with it mic'd through a decent PA. I think it would look so cool on stage while your meathead support band guitar player wheels in his 100 watt Marshall and 4x12!!
Plenty of tones on offer... if you like Metal, Blues or Classic Rock. Anything else where you need tons of clean headroom go look at a twin!
The response from the guitar is wonderful with the change in dynamics very noticeable with use of the vol knob.
This is very much a dial and go amp for those of us who love to just plug in and change our tone with the guitar controls rather than stomping on a ton of pedals (i have stage co-ordernation problems, it's hard enough for me to play and workout where the solo is).
Hope you like it.
Guitar was a 1993 Standard Les Paul, stock pickups
Wah Wah was a Dunlop 535Q
And basic settings for the Blackstar are described through the video.
If you are a bedroom player I cannot stress enough the value of having a amp like this in your collection. It is so good in terms of response, build quality and tone.
All for the price of a 'Boutique, Bullshit Pedal'
Enjoy...

  • Would this take a wah pedal?

It's the only effect I'm really intrested in, but if it can't I might not get one:(

  • @EvilLamas

If you watch the video there is a demonstration with wah at 9:20

  • does it reacts perfect with stompboxes???

you know the pedals wich you can stomp on :p

i gues i dont need an overdrive or metalpedal with this amp

but i mean stompboxes like phaser, chorus, tremollo, flanger

    and al these effect pedals

    does it react perfect?????

    please answer :)

  • @slaytallimaiden

To be honest I wouldn't imagine it working that great with a bunch of pedals. There is no loop so putting delay / chorus etc in front of an overdriving amp like this would sound bad in my opinion. Then again I'm not a big effects guy.

  • so this works with pedals?

  • @callumazoo11

I guess one would have to ask, 'What type of pedals?'

If you are talking modulation type effects I think it would struggle as there is no loop and things get dirty pretty quickly. Any In-Line pedals I would imagine would all do well. However there is all the gain you need on tap. I wouldn't think you would need a OD or a Tubescreamer.

  • @chooseyourblues ah thanks!

Looks like I'll be buying this amp!

  • @twelvemeister

depends on the settings on the amp. If I turn the gain up all the way on the od channel there is some hum but it wouldn't put me off. To be honest I wouldn't have the gain up all the way anyway. If you are unsure take it back to the store and try another.

  • i just got one it;s great but it hums a bit , is this common or have i got a duffer , i mean HUMS
