Gry - Quiet Now

Gry, born in denmark 1975
grew up in Denmark, Norway and Mozambique

started as a child to write her own songs and built her own instruments
later she became member of the legendary children punk band Skole ost (school cheese)

In the beginning of the 90's she founded with Jacob Kirkegaard the sound art group Æter and they traveled around Europe recording the city sounds, which Gry wrote and sang to. That resulted in to two releases, one lp "Luftantenner" and the mp3 player "Oxegin" and also the radio play "Himmel vente øje"

She then met the legendary drummer FM Einheit (Einstürzende Neubauten) and they made the band GRY touring both Europe and USA. They released two albums, "Touch of E" and "Public Recordings" plus the radio-play "Frost" featuring artists such as Funkstorung and Pansonic.

In 2000 Gry started a master study at the academy of Media Arts Cologne and graduated in 2006 with her diploma film "Wiiiu whit grrr" a sound art film were she talks and sings with animals.

She also made several projects during the study time such as the opera "Idea" (sound piece for the radio) and founded the group The Loverz releasing the album Love.

She moved to Berlin having sad goodbye to all this, to start her own label, Present Records, and produce her own music.

Thanks for posting this (and the bio write up on her). I saw her with FM Einheit for Pigface's Lowest of the Low tour. I bought the cd then but I guess when they were pulling people up on stage to bang on the oil drums, it must've fell out of my pocket. Have never been able to find the cd ever again. Youtube does its job helping me getting my Gry fix in.
