I got the impression that this was like a manifestation of the super ego in front of the ego. The ego being confused at the unexplainable appearance of the superego...begins to question its own and its companions existence. Through subjective experience, they build greater separation...yet they are united...and its no use thinking too much...but to say goodnight.
