Street interviews conducted by Travis Nuckolls and Chris Baker in Colorado Springs prove that asking the right question can be more important than anything you can tell someone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing you are a straight, anglo-saxon male and not very old. If you had experienced a world as I have done where I could have ended in prison, lost my job, be shunned, and subjected to aversion therapy, you might have more empathy. Maybe you don't realise that many activists are my age. The pain of those years, of people persuaded against their better judgement to enter into loveless marriages (luckily something I avoided) is not easily forgotten.

I choose to be heterosexual every time I engage in a relationship with a woman.

You defined by your actions, and you choose your actions.

...that said, who cares whether it's a choice or not? If it's not a choice, then there's no need to have the conversation. If it is a choice, then it's a choice that every person has a goddamned right to make for themselves.

This whole "is it a choice or not" conversation is completely irrelevant and take away from the real issue: equality for everyone.

How glibly you say if you don't like it, leave it. I presume that you have embarked on a life of celibacy so that you know how that can be achieved. I am dominantly left-handed, you might just as well tell me to stop doing that or put out an eye, so inextricably is my person bound up with my sexuality. Schwartzenegger is a conservative, but he had no problems voting for liberal policies, so I would question what you say about Hollywood. Or do you consider he's a lefty in disguise?

Gary Studds was a Democrat politician that was caught in a pedophile relationship...He wasn't shunned, he was celebrated, and that was in 1983...Homosexuals haven't had it remotely bad in America, ever, unless they were shoving it in people's faces...The smart homosexuals, like the smart heterosexuals, didn't have to make their sexual life front and center, and if they made their sex lives a central issue, they were rightly shunned and employers should have dealt with them.

When was the last time a non pedophile homosexual was imprisoned for having unnatural sex with another man in the privacy of his own home?...I feel you about the fear of losing your job, and being shunned. I worked for the California government, and if I dared say that I was a conservative I would be in serious jeopardy of losing my job...If you dare be a conservative in Hollywood, well you won't be working for long...Ya, I feel ya buddy...And, guess what? If you don't like it, leave it.

I do agree that it's a nature vs nurture. If you're around straight people, you're probably gonna be straight and probably the other way around with other sexuality preferences. Then again, some people will, I guess, think for themselves or think differently on who they like and attracted to and go another direction

Further to my previous post, I'm interested to note that you didn't provide information about how you became close enough to such a large number of gay men to be able to make such a sweeping statement about how they came by their orientation. Finally, you need to be aware that there are people who admit to hatred of gay men, whose posts are remarkably similar to yours.
